May 2024

Hectic May preparing for South East Open Studio. It’s been a challenging month for me, I’ve experienced creative burnout at the sheer volume of work I’ve produced since January. It’s amazing to see how far I have come though and to see all my work take shape. I experimented with abstract seascapes in acrylic this month and what do you think? Speak soon! Kate x

I did 12 in this series, all 20x20cm canvas in a floating frame. I loved the blending process - these were fun!

Hello! February figure month expanded into March, though I went in a new direction style-wise! Really enjoyed the mixed-media working with acrylic, pen, charcoal, and pastel… I think I’ll do some more. Follow me on Instagram as I post new paintings throughout the month. Hey there! Well, if January was my seagull month (a with a Raven thrown in for good measure!) February is a month for focusing of figure-work, and what better muse than my daughter, Grace? It’s great to work from a subject I know so well. Follow me on Instagram as I post new paintings of Grace throughout the month. Let me know what you think!Speak soon, Kate :)

I got stuck straight into working with oil paint and produced this wee chap! I’ve called him Stephen (ha). He’s looking a tad lonely though… let’s see if we can’t paint him a friend or two. ‘Seagull #1’ Oil on Canvas, 30x30cm
